I found DA quite by accident and hesitated to sign up since I am utterly devoid of any artistic talent. Years ago I was trained as a photographer while serving in the US Navy, but my days of practicing photography are long gone. But I am tempted to purchase a decent camera and resume the attempt. Black and white photography was a particular favorite.
Anyway, not that anyone really cares, but I saw the 2009 movie "Where the Wild Things Are" in December 2010 and for some reason become fascinated with Alexander, the goat-like Wild Thing. I don't fully understand it, and certainly can't explain it, but I just really like this character, and to some extent have adopted him almost as an alter-ego despite the fact that I'm not actually like him. It's all very odd and I'm not the sort of person that is normally interested in a silly movie, but we like what we like I suppose. So - while looking for drawings of you know who I stumbled upon DA and am simply amazed by the number of insanely talented people that post here.

Yesterday (4/08) a DA artist I admire posted a link to a live stream demonstration, and as I have always wanted to observe the creative process in action I eagerly joined the demonstration. I watched with great interest as he worked on a drawing in Photoshop while answering questions from several other watchers and myself.
After a while another person joined the group, and by the artist's warm greeting (and information he had posted in a prior journal entry) I deduced the newcomer was a particularly close friend of the artist.
